Nowadays, no one is unfamiliar with back pain. A sedentary lifestyle, especially intensified in the age of pandemic, sooner or later will be felt very acutely. However, you can fight this and prevent later pain syndromes. Today I want to offer you core stability training. Do you want to know what it is and why it can be a back pain killer? You will learn by reading the article below.
CORE STABILITY
Central stability refers to the performance of deep trunk muscles. Imagine a tin whose walls form a diaphragm from the top, pelvic floor muscles from the bottom, abdominal muscles from the front, and from the back the paravertebral muscles together with the buttocks. The tin constructed in this way is the centre of stabilisation. Proper neuromuscular control in the lumbar-pelvic ilium area gives the possibility of functional stabilisation.
Functional stabilisation is nothing more than the ability to perform circumferential movements and movement while maintaining a stable torso.
Panjabi’s spine stabilisation model distinguishes three subsystems:
- Active, which are formed by muscles and their tendons
- Passive, i.e. bones and ligaments
- Nervous control
It is important to mention muscle timing, which determines the order in which specific muscles engage in a given movement. The base of movement should be generated by deep muscles. In the situation of their weakening, stabilisation of the spine is not sufficient and uncontrolled movements in the torso occur, which may result in trauma within the spine.
Correctly functioning subsystems are the basis for the proper functioning of the stabilisation system. Unfortunately, the lumbar-pelvic iliac complex is not difficult to disturb. Without deep muscles, it is not possible to generate the correct movement pattern. Overloads, postural defects, backaches and other uncomfortable effects occur for the patient.
I encourage you with all my heart to take care of your central stability. Especially now when you spend most of the day sitting at home. If you don’t know what the effects of a sedentary lifestyle are, you’ll find them here.
I have convinced you that it is worth starting practicing central stabilisation? Well, let’s do it! Here as well as here you will find several exercises that you can start with.
Remember! Central stabilisation really plays an extremely important role in your body. It is the BASIS for proper functioning!
