Sciatica? Migraine? Degeneration of the spine? Shoulder pain syndrome? Or maybe … a trigger point?
A trigger point is a painful swelling or lump in the muscle that can give local (exactly at a given point) or projected (other than actual disorder) pain. The creation of such points begins quite innocently – most often with a slight discomfort, which gradually increases to severe, radiating pain.
Such “thickening” of the tissue often causes a feeling of stiff neck or lumbar pain, and often causes headache. Equally often, trigger points are located in the gluteal muscles, thereby giving symptoms similar to sciatica. Importantly, the trigger point not only causes pain, but also limits the range of motion in the joint and weakens the strength of the muscle in which it develops.
After correct diagnosis, we proceed to therapy. Here, myofascial release methods are used, such as deep tissue massage, FDM, or specific techniques for locally releasing these points. In addition, for a great relief in the case of trigger points, for example, warm compresses can cause loosening of excessively tight areas.
Do you have the above-mentioned ailments?! Do you suspect you have a lot of such trigger points?! Let’s find out together!
